Convert a GIF to MP4.

Turn a GIF into a proper video file that social platforms and messaging apps accept. It’s usually far smaller, too.

Video settings

Short GIFs make very short videos, so repeating the loop a few times helps on platforms with a minimum length.

How it works

  1. Add your GIF

Drop in an animated GIF. Its frames are read in your browser.

  2. Pick size and length

Keep the GIF’s size or go up to 720 or 1080 wide, and choose how many loops.

  3. Download the video

We encode an H.264 MP4 and hand it straight to you.

Good to know. Chrome, Edge and Safari build a real MP4 quickly. Browsers without the video encoder needed (some versions of Firefox) fall back to recording the GIF as it plays, in real time, and that may give a WebM file instead of MP4. We tell you which one you got.

Questions

Why convert a GIF to MP4?

Many platforms, including Instagram and LinkedIn, don’t accept GIF uploads as animations. MP4 is accepted everywhere and is often a tenth of the size.

Will it have sound?

No. A GIF has no sound to carry over, so the video is silent.

Is my GIF uploaded?

No. The video is encoded on your own device.

Why did I get a WebM?

Your browser can’t make MP4 files itself. Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Safari to get MP4.
