Extract the audio from a video.

Save the sound from any video as a WAV file. It’s quick, because your browser decodes it directly rather than playing it through.

How it works

  1. Add your video

Drop in an MP4, MOV or WebM.

  2. Pick the part

Keep the whole thing, or set a start and end.

  3. Download the WAV

Your browser decodes the sound and we save it as a WAV.

Good to know. This saves WAV, not MP3. WAV is uncompressed, so it’s about 10 MB a minute in stereo, but it opens in every editor and keeps full quality. Making MP3s in the browser needs extra encoders we’d rather not load. Very long videos use a lot of memory, so trim first if your browser struggles.

Questions

Why WAV and not MP3?

WAV keeps the full quality and works in every audio and video editor. If you need an MP3, any audio app can convert the WAV in seconds.

How long does it take?

Usually a few seconds, even for long videos, because it doesn’t play through in real time.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The sound is decoded on your device.

It says there’s no sound. Why?

The video may have no audio track, or use an audio codec your browser can’t decode. Try Chrome or Edge.
