Drop in an MP4, MOV or WebM. It opens in your browser.
Pick a resolution and quality. We estimate the new file size before you start.
The video plays through once while it re-records at the new settings.
Good to know. There’s no server doing the work, so the browser re-records the video in real time: it takes as long as the video lasts. Bitrate control varies between browsers, so the final size can land either side of the estimate. If the result is bigger than the original we’ll say so, and you should keep the original.
A phone video at 1080p is often 15 to 20 Mbps. Balanced at 720p is around 1.4 Mbps, so expect a big cut. We show an estimate first.
Browsers can only re-encode video by playing it. It’s slower than desktop software, but your file never leaves your device.
No. Compression happens on your computer.
Balanced at 720p looks fine on phones. Use High at 1080p for anything that will be watched on a big screen.
