Grab a YouTube thumbnail.

Paste a YouTube link, including Shorts and youtu.be links, and save the thumbnail in every size YouTube has.

Thumbnails belong to the people who made the videos. Use them for reference and planning, not as your own.

How it works

  1. Copy the link

From the address bar or the Share button. Watch links, Shorts, youtu.be and embed links all work.

  2. Paste it here

We work out the video ID and fetch each thumbnail size straight from YouTube.

  3. Download

Save the size you need. Max resolution is 1280 x 720 when the video has it.

Good to know. Not every video has a max resolution thumbnail. Older or lower resolution uploads often stop at 640 x 480, and we’ll show you which sizes exist. Private and deleted videos have no thumbnails to fetch.

Questions

Can I use someone else’s thumbnail?

Thumbnails belong to their creators. They’re great for reference, mood boards and planning your own, but don’t publish someone else’s as yours.

Does it work with Shorts?

Yes. Paste the Shorts link as it is. Shorts thumbnails are stored in the same sizes as normal videos.

Why is there no max resolution version?

YouTube only makes the 1280 x 720 version for videos uploaded in HD with a custom or HD thumbnail. Otherwise the biggest is 640 x 480.

Do you track what I look up?

No. The images come straight from YouTube’s image servers to your browser.
